DOLLS DOLLS DOLLS

Show and Tell
Guess what? I'm doing this week's Show & Tell on my Dolls Dolls Dolls blog again. I appreciate all the nice comments I have received about my dolls. When I made them back in the 80's I never dreamed I'd be sharing them with the world in a few years. I'm still "blown away" by computers and the www.

And, of course, another reminder that Spiritual Sundays is coming up again.

VINTAGE THINGIES THURSDAYS

A couple of weeks ago I shared a picture of my grandmother and my mother when she was a little girl at the beach. This picture is not as "vintagy" as those were. This is me at the beach in 1955. What I am proud of is that my daughter has a framed picture like this in her living room. See the picture below. Isn't that sweet?

Looks like I'm stuck in 1955. The header picture was also taken that year. I'm really not. I'm glad to be living in 2008. I will have to admit I looked better then however.  But, I am a lot older and wiser now. Well, older at least.

Check out other Vintage Thingies Thursdays links at Confessions of an Apron Queen.

SOMETHING PRETTY & SOMETHING SWEET

Glitter Graphics

Glitter Graphics

Why this post? I just like these things!

INSPIRATIONAL STUFF

Ginger and I appreciate so much all of you who went to our Spiritual Sundays blog and either shared your inspirational posts or just went there to read what others had posted. I am always encouraged and uplifted by what others have shared.  We also appreciate all the lovely comments you have made. I was impressed with the video clip Amanda displayed on her blog. This is not the same one she showed, but it is about the same movie. I had not heard of this movie, but now I am looking forward to seeing it when it comes to the theaters. I thought I would share this video clip with you today. You will need to scroll down and turn the music off on my blog before you watch the video.

SPIRITUAL SUNDAYS

From time to time, I find that I need to remind myself of the truth in the above graphic. I think this scripture pretty well speaks for itself as does the following one.

Isaiah 41:13 For I am the Lord, Your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, do not fear; I will help you.

KREATIV BLOGGER AWARD

I've been awarded this beautiful Kreativ Blogger Award by Ms Daisy at The Daisy Chain

Thank you, Ms Daisy. I am honored.

I am to tell 6 things that make me happy. I could probably list 6,000 if I had a little more time, but here are six of them:

  1. Knowing God and that he loves me
  2. Thinking of what the future holds when Jesus returns.
  3. Family & Friends
  4. Beautiful music like that playing right now
  5. My home
  6. Peach Cobbler with vanilla ice cream

Now I am to pass this AWARD along to other Kreativ Blog Hostesses: This is so hard for me to do. After I had decided on six, others came to mind that I wanted to also give the award to. There are so many creative blogs out there. Guess I'll stick to the rules and chose six. No. I'm going to cheat just a little and chose seven. I think seven is a complete number anyway.

Hootin' Anni at Hootin' Anni's. This may be the most creative blog I know of. She even does all of her art work and graphics.

Now, just copy and paste the Award into a new post on your blog, list 6 things that make you happy and pass it along!

Just a Reminder: Be sure to visit the Spiritual Sundays blog this weekend. This Kreativ Blogs award was give to Ginger and me for creating that new blog.

FORMER CLASSMATE

I just found out yesterday that Albert "Al" Terrill, an old classmate of mine had passed away. He was a little more than just a classmate. We went to the same church and were in the youth group. I also had a few dates with him. We were pretty young - 15. He wasn't old enough to have his drivers' license yet so he picked me up in a taxi. The only guy that ever did that for me. Al went on to become an Oklahoma state senator. There was a long article on the mortuary's website with this picture of him.  So many people my age have died and many friends and relatives who were younger than I am. This is one more reminder of how short our time here on earth is and how we need to not be so concerned with this life, but with the next life. I'm so glad I have faith that much better days are ahead.  Although - I don't guess you would really call them "days". Are there days in eternity?

SHOW & TELL @ Dolls Dolls Dolls again

Show and Tell

Once again, I'm doing my Show & Tell post over on my Dolls Dolls Dolls blog.  You can go there to see some more of the porcelain dolls that I have made. You can click on the Show & Tell picture to take you to Kelli's place where you will find the links to many interesting posts.
I want to remind that Spiritual Sundays is almost here again. Ginger and I are pleased that so many are participating and being blessed by this new blog.

THANKFUL THURSDAY

I have seen posts on Thankful Thursday but have never participated in the meme. Today I am feeling very thankful and after reading a few blogs, some which are new to me, I am thinking how thankful I am for my blogging friends. It's really amazing. So many of you that visit my blog regularly and I visit yours, and just to think. Before January 12 (that's when I started blogging) I didn't even know that most of you existed. Of course I knew Ginger, and Connie and my husband has been blogging for about three years. Now I feel like I have many new friends. If I were to list all the things I am thankful for I think it would take me the rest of my life, however long that might be, to list them all. God has been so good to me.

I am thankful for all the precious blogging awards that have been given to me. I was just feeling good about the two previous ones when Hootin' Anni gave me this Bloggers Over 50 Outstanding Blog Award. This one was extra special because it was designated just for me and she was the first one to give me an award back in March. Thank you, Anni, for being my friend.

I would like to like to end this post with a scripture on giving thanks. It's Psalm 100.

1 Shout for joy to the LORD all the earth.
2 Worship the LORD with gladness come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the LORD is good and his love endues forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

AWARDS

When I visited Beachkat's blog she had received these two lovely awards, and she said she wanted to pass them on to all her blogging friends who regularly visit her blog and make comments. Since I consider myself one of those friends, I decided to accept the awards, and I want to do the same thing. There are many of you who visit my blog and make comments on a regular basis. I would like for you to have these awards too. You know who you are. If you have not visited Beachkat's blog, you should do yourself a favor and go there. It is one of my favorite places to visit.

A WONDERFUL WEEKEND

A big THANK YOU to everyone who visited our Spiritual Sundays blog last weekend and to all who left lovely comments. I just now posted an update on the S.S. blog and now want to post something on this one.

As I mentioned on my Spiritual Sundays post we have had company this weekend. Ginger, her husband and two other relatives came on Friday and they just left this morning. While they were here Ginger and I would sneak off from the group occasionally to the computer and read what others had posted on the Spiritual Sundays blog. We are really pleased that so many are going there now to share and to be encouraged by reading what other bloggers have posted.

I posted a picture of Ginger and me on the Spiritual Sundays blog.

Isn't this a beautiful flowering plant? Ginger and Nancy bought it for us while they were here. Vivian, another one of our guests bought me the two cute little birdies at the top of this post. I also posted a picture of the other nice gift Ginger brought me. I posted it this morning on the Spiritual Sundays blog.

Hope everyone is having another great week.

Prophecies About Jesus

000,000,000,000,00.000

You may wonder

what is that strange looking thing with all the zeros.

That is a mathematical equation.

That's one over ninety-seven zeros.

But what does it mean?

It represents the possibility of 332 distinct prophecies

in the Old Testament

being fulfilled by one man.

One man did fulfill every one of these prophecies.

J E S U S

Here are a few we are more familiar with:

  • the betrayal by a friend (Ps. 41:9)
  • the forsaking of the disciples through being offended at him (Ps. 31:11)
  • the false accusation (Ps. 35:11)
  • the silence before his judges (Isa 53:7)
  • being proven guiltless (Isa. 53:9)
  • being included with sinners (Isa. 53:12)
  • being crucified (Ps. 22:16)
  • the mockery of the spectators (Ps. 109:25)
  • the taunt of nondeliverance (Ps. 22:7-8)
  • the gambling for his garments (Ps. 22:18)
  • the prayer for his enemies (Isa. 53:12)
  • being forsaken by God (Ps. 22:1)
  • the yielding of his spirit into the hands of his Father (Ps 31:5)
  • the bones not broken (Ps. 34:20)
  • the burial in a rich man's tomb (Isa 53:9)
Why did I chose this for my Spiritual Sundays post? I read it in one of Max Lucado's books, He Chose the Nails. I thought "Wow." I knew many Old Testament scriptures were fulfilled by Jesus, but 332? Of course Max didn't list all of them, but I'll take his word for it. Even if there were not that many, if there were just the ones listed above, that would be enough to convince me.

Vintage Thingies Thursdays

Today for Vintage Thingies Thursdays, I decided to share some very old photos. The first one is my mother and her mother. This picture must have been taken in about 1917 or 1918.

Left to right - my mother's younger sister, my mother, and I think the two on the right were her cousins.

I don't know any of these people. This photo was in my grandmother's photo album. Evidently they were friends of hers. On the back was written Orcutt & daughter. I had never heard the name Orcutt before. Anybody know who Orcutt is?

ME, THE CHIEF & IRENE

This picture was taken the same day as the one in the header picture. Irene is my friend; has been my friend for 60 years. We still keep in touch. We both celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversaries this year. She got married two weeks before I did. I was her maid of honor. She was my matron of honor. We both married preachers. She and her husband were missionaries in Brazil for almost 50 years. They live in Oregon now.

WHERE I SPEND A LOT OF TIME

I'm glad people are still visiting Spiritual Sundays and making comments. You might want to check back there occasionally to see if others have posted  something to share. Actually if there is something on your heart of a spiritual nature that you would like to share, Mr. Linky is always there for you to sign in. You don't have to wait until Sunday. A new Mr. Linky will be up again on Saturday. In the meantime, if you want to join the sharing, go ahead and sign the last Mr. Linky. One person did this yesterday I am happy to report. There is also a You Tube video on Spiritual Sundays that I posted yesterday.
