Joe's Blue Monday

Haven't done a Blue Monday post in ages. We drove down to Tempe the other day just to eat at Joe's Crab Shack. We love their fish; chips―only $6.95 on the lunch menu―and it is really d-e-e-elicious. As we were ready to walk in, we noticed they had a pelican in front of the restaurant that wasn't there the last time we were there. Since I always carry my camera in my purse with me now, I told Hubby I should take a picture of it. Then, realizing I had on blue jeans and a blue sweater, and there was a lot of blue around Joe's Crab Shack, I decided to be in the picture and do a Blue Monday post.

There are two Joe's Crab Shacks in Tempe and not one in our area. The first time we ate at one of their restaurants was in Kentucky several years ago.

ANOTHER BLUE BIRTHDAY

Last month was our daughter's birthday and I did a Blue Monday post featuring her and the blue elephant cake I made for her birthday when she was a little girl. Click HERE if you missed it or if you would like to see it. Today (I'm posting this on Sunday evening) is our son's birthday and I decided to share his blue elephant cake this week. After I made the elephant cake for Carol, Allen wanted one for his birthday every year for many years after that. These pictures were taken a long time ago because he is 47 years old now. Doesn't seem possible. Those years sure flew by.

He also had a blue shirt and was wearing a blue shirt in an earlier birthday. Here's a picture of that birthday (pre-elephant cake birthday). LOL Also, there was some blue in the wallpaper in the above picture.

Here's a more recent picture of him at his favorite restaurant, Taco Bell, still wearing a blue shirt.

Happy Blue Birthday

I'm a little late in posting this, but I was looking for a picture of our daughter to post because today is her birthday. As I was looking at old birthday pictures, I ran across this one of her with a blue elephant birthday cake that was taken many years ago. I won't say how many. Then I thought, I'll share this for her birthday and also for Blue Monday.

BLUE MONDAY

Since I recently changed the look of my blog, I thought it would be fun to post this old picture of how the area looked several years ago. For the first few years we lived here the windows just had mini blinds and then one day I decided to make the blue valances for them. After awhile I got tired of the blue and made the tan ones that are still up (as in the header picture). And of course the barstools are partly blue. At the time we had white tile in the kitchen and as you can see in the header picture, we replaced it plus some of the carpeted area, with Travertine stone. We also had the stone added to the backsplash area which was a great improvement.

This picture was taken as it was getting dark outside.

Lots of blue in this old picture of me that was taken about 18 years ago, not long after we moved here. Even the rims of my glasses were blue although you can't tell it in this picture. The wall behind me is where we have book cases now.

Our next door neighbors have a new front door. I had thought about taking a picture of it for Blue Monday but had not yet done it. Then a couple of days ago I saw all these pink flamingos in the yard. I don't know what the occasion was, but I thought this would be a good time to take a picture, so I did.

Here's a closer look. They used to have a wood-stained door. I think the new one is nice - it's really colorful. I thought it was kind of funny that they couldn't put the flamingos all over the yard which is usually done. Most of their yard is rock and I'm sure it was too hard to accommodate the pink birds.

BLUE MONDAY

My family has been helpful when it comes to Pink Saturday and Blue Monday. The item I'm featuring today was given to me by my daughter. Someone in her office was getting ready to throw it away and she told the lady that her mother (that's me) would like it so that is how I ended up with this cute little blue and white windmill. There is a place to put a votive candle in it.
