PINK SATURDAY

It has been awhile since I've participated in Pink Saturday. I do love and appreciate Beverly for her faithfulness to that meme. She makes lots of people happy with all that pinkness that is shared. Click HERE to go to How Sweet the Sound for links to lots of pink posts.

I wanted to share this very very short video (8 seconds long) today. I love pink and I love pink flowers.

Beverly has reminded us that October is breast cancer awareness month. October is also my birthday month. To celebrate my birthday on the 5th we drove up to beautiful Sedona, AZ to spend the day. I wore my pink hat because I needed to keep the sun off my face. I've started a round of Carac cream to get rid of skin cancer cells. My face is getting redder every day. It doesn't really show up in this picture. A pink top seemed appropriate for the occasion so I wore that too. Here's a picture. I also wore a pink cross. For those of you who follow Spiritual Sundays this picture was taken outside the chapel in the header picture for that blog. Such a beautiful place. When we visited the chapel this time we bought a cross made from the red rock. I'm planning to share a picture of it on Spiritual Sundays.

Happy Pink Saturday to everyone who shares there. No no - Happy Pink Saturday to everyone, not just those who share.

Sneakers and Bougainvillea

Went to my first Silver Sneakers exercise session this morning. I was able to go through the routine better than I thought I would since I'm so out of shape. I'm excited about going back and also about going back and using the exercise equipment and work out in the pool. I'm happy to say that Hubby will be joining me.  I joined a gym when I was a teenager and just went a few times and lost interest. I'm determined this time to carry through with it. I am a little older and a little wiser now. LOL Make that a LOT older and wiser.

Just went out in the back yard and snapped these pictures. The bougainvillea is taking over out there again. I guess if we didn't keep cutting it back it would take over the whole yard, pool and all.

You can barely see the bird bath. It's covered by the bougainvillea. I hope the birdies can find it.

Arizona Sun

I would say this little guy has been out in the sun too long. He’s been sitting out in our back yard for about 18 years. I bought him at a yard sale when we first moved here. He was painted bright colors and looked new. This is what the sun has done to him. Actually, part of the time he has been sitting in the shade, but almost anywhere I put him, he gets sunshine sometime during the day. He has also survived many monsoon seasons. What a guy.

He has a good view though (if the sun hasn’t blinded him). The roses are just starting to bloom and these flowers that come up from bulbs every year are right in front of him. I’ll bet he does hate to see another summer coming though. It’s very pleasant out there this time of year.

Yes, I've thought about a new paint job, but decided to stick with the "weathered" look. I can identify with that.

The Plant That Always Returns

See this empty pot in front of our house. It looks this way twice a year - but only for a little while. In the winter it freezes, and in the summer it burns up. We put temporary flowering plants in it until the real occupant returns again, and it always returns. Last winter after a deeper than usual freeze in our valley, my husband was sure that it would not return, but it did. I have no idea what kind of plant this is. We bought it at a nursery many years ago. The pot is really in bad shape. If we tried to move it even a little, it would fall apart, but the plant comes back each time more beautiful than ever and so we just keep the old pot.
