PINK SATURDAY

I am posting this on Friday. Today would have been my dad's 98th birthday. In looking for something pink to share for Pink Saturday, I ran across this picture of the pink lamp in my doll room. Since the picture to the left of the lamp is one of me and my dad taken when I was a young girl, I thought it would be a good one to share today. The little picture in front of it is a picture of him when he was 16. Let's see⏤that picture would have been taken 82 years ago.

Here are those two pictures that are framed.

This is one of the few pictures I have of the two of us together. In all the other pictures there are always other people in the photo.

Thank you for letting me share my Dad's birthday anniversary with you. I miss him still. He left this life in 1998 at the age of 85.

Thanks again to Beverly for hosting Pink Saturdays. Click HERE for lots of pink posts.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY IRENE

I called my friend Irene today to wish her a happy birthday. She lives in Oregon now but spent about 50 years in the mission field in Brazil. I told her about my blogging. She said she didn't even know what a blog was. I sent her an email with links on it to my blogs after trying to explain what blogs are. She asked me if I was on facebook. I told her I was. She said she joined it but never did anything with it and somehow whenever she tried to get on it rejected her password. So, I looked her up and this is the picture of her that was there. She says it all very confusing to her. She barely does e-mails. I don't know if she will be able to see this post or not. I think I will take a snapshot of it and e-mail it to her. She will be surprised. Irene and I have been friends like forever - since I was in the 5th grade. She was two grades ahead of me in school. I was her maid of honor at her wedding and two weeks later she was my matron of honor. I hope she is able to see this post. Happy Birthday Irene. I love you.

ANOTHER BLUE BIRTHDAY

Last month was our daughter's birthday and I did a Blue Monday post featuring her and the blue elephant cake I made for her birthday when she was a little girl. Click HERE if you missed it or if you would like to see it. Today (I'm posting this on Sunday evening) is our son's birthday and I decided to share his blue elephant cake this week. After I made the elephant cake for Carol, Allen wanted one for his birthday every year for many years after that. These pictures were taken a long time ago because he is 47 years old now. Doesn't seem possible. Those years sure flew by.

He also had a blue shirt and was wearing a blue shirt in an earlier birthday. Here's a picture of that birthday (pre-elephant cake birthday). LOL Also, there was some blue in the wallpaper in the above picture.

Here's a more recent picture of him at his favorite restaurant, Taco Bell, still wearing a blue shirt.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALLEN

Happy Blue Birthday

I'm a little late in posting this, but I was looking for a picture of our daughter to post because today is her birthday. As I was looking at old birthday pictures, I ran across this one of her with a blue elephant birthday cake that was taken many years ago. I won't say how many. Then I thought, I'll share this for her birthday and also for Blue Monday.

Hubby posted about her birthday on his blog with an up-to-date photo of her. You can view it by clicking HERE. She has always been such a joy for both of us.

Happy Birthday to Carol!
Happy Blue Monday Everybody!

Of course Sally is our hostess for Blue Monday each week. You can go to her blog by clicking HERE.

ANOTHER BIRTHDAY

No, today is not my birthday. Tomorrow is. Just like a little kid, I couldn't wait. I intended to post this tomorrow but decided to go ahead and post today. I started celebrating last night and will continue on through tomorrow. Why make just one day of it?

Last night our kids took us to the Outback Steak House for dinner and then afterwards to their house for dessert. Carol had baked a peach cobbler in the new Le Creuset pan which was one of my gifts. Here are a couple of pictures.

Of course I wanted a picture of me holding the beautiful pan holding my beautiful peach cobbler. Oh, and what was in the box? Another smaller Le Creuset pan, and lovely potholder (glove type) and kitchen towel from Sur la Table.

I'll continue celebrating tomorrow which is my actual birthday. Hubby has already told me he's taking me out to breakfast and lunch. He's getting me a computer program I've been wanting. Life is good.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOMMY

Last year I wrote a tribute post with photos for my mother's birthday. She would have been 96 years old today. I hope you will click HERE to see the tribute I did last year. I don't think I could improve on it. She was a terrific lady, wonderful mother and friend.

Birthday Remembrance

Myspace Layouts

Today would have been my mother's 95th birthday. Today's post is dedicated to her memory. She always liked the picture above. I think she was beautiful. She was a beautiful woman - outside, but especially inside. She was a real "people" person. She loved people and they loved her. She was always thinking of what she could do for somebody else. I wish I was more like her, but I'm afraid in this way I am more like my Dad. In case you're wondering why the Dolly Parton song is playing first this morning, (Coat of Many Colors) I put it at the top because everytime I hear it, I cry. Silly Charlotte, why would you want to cry? It makes me think of my mother. We were not as poor as Dolly but we never had much money when I was growing up, and I know my mother sacrificed many times so that I could have something nice.

This is one of my earliest photos of my mother and me together. It was taken in one of those little booths where you put the money in and out comes a strip of photos. I can remember when I was a kid everytime I saw one of them I wanted to have pictures taken. I have always liked pictures, and I especially like this one.

I think this picture exemplifies my mother's life. She was a worker. Of course this picture was taken in the years before clothes dryers - or at least before she had one.

This is one of her last birthdays. I like this picture because she looks so happy to be with her grandson - her only grandson - on her birthday.

How I wish she was here today so I could hug her and wish her a Happy Birthday. Happy Birthday Mom. Actually I didn't call her Mom, I always called her Mommy and later Granny because that was what everyone in the family started calling her even before she had grandchildren. Some of her nieces and a nephew started calling her that because they didn't have a living grandmother and they "adopted" her as their Granny. Incidentally, that nephew is now married to Ginger of Enchanting Cottage.

My Dad's Birthday

Today is Martin Luther King Day. For me it is my Dad's birthday. He would be 95 years old today if he was still alive. He passed away over nine years ago. Today I want to remember him by posting this picture of him and me taken when I was about eight years old. I have tons of pictures but very few of the two of us together. This one is my favorite. In my baby book my mother wrote that some of my first words were "Daddy's Palsy Walsy", "Friends to the end" and "Friends togetter"(together). She said these were said by me to my daddy. I miss him today.

This picture must have been taken on a day I went to tap dancing class because I have my tap shoes on. I loved those shoes. Come to think of it, I love shoes - period.
