Just Ruthie

Today I want to recommend another blog to you. It's Ruthie at Just Ruthie. If you've never visited her blog, you will not be disappointed if you go there. She was born in China to missionary parents and tells some very interesting, faith building stories about her parents and herself when she was a child in that country. I'm so glad I discovered her blog. It's one I wouldn't miss.

Go to the Dashboard and look under where you click to add a new post. There you will find The Latest from Blogger Buzz. It's titled Show off your favorite blogs with a blog list. It gives detailed instructions on how to do it. It's really very easy.

Have you noticed the new addition Blogspot has offered. It's featured on the Dashboard. I'm trying to get all of the blogs of my blogging friends that regularly visit my blog and leave comments listed on my sidebar. If you are one of those and your blog is not listed, please let me know. I'm sure I have overlooked some. It is really helpful to know when a new post has been made on some of my favorite blogs and when you click on it, you can go back to your own blog to click on the next one without having to open up your own blog again. Reading back over what I have just written, I realize that I have probably completely confused the issue. I didn't explain it very well. I can't explain it, but I sure like it.

John McCain At Diamondbacks Game

One of the Diamondbacks' team doctors was a friend of ours and a member of our church a few years ago. He gave us his tickets a few times - four rows behind the Diamondbacks dugout. Here are a couple of pictures I shot of John McCain as he was visiting with the team. Of course he's a Diamondbacks fan and, of course, I am too. We haven't been to a game in a long time now. I guess we got spoiled. With those great free tickets and free parking in the parking garage, now we can't get excited about going and sitting where we can afford the tickets. Oh well, we have great memories.

No Old Cars Today Either

Last Sunday I was disappointed because I took my camera to church with me to take a picture of two old cars that were parked there the Sunday before - one old and beat up and the other restored. I was hoping they would be there today, but they were not. From now on I'm going to try to have my camera with me everywhere I go. You never know when you will run into a photo-op.

I haven't posted anything for a couple of days. Hubby and I spent almost the whole day yesterday putting together a new computer desk. Boy, what a job that was. There must have been 200 different pieces that had to be put together. That is exaggerating it just a little. Anyway, it's all done, and I really like it. On Friday I was trying to decide whether to buy another PC or a Mac. After doing a lot of research and talking to a friend that has used Mac computers for years, I finally decided on the Mac. I ordered it online today. It will take some getting use to but I am anxious to start getting use to it.

Tomorrow I will be posting a picture I took of John McCain at a Diamondbacks game a few years ago. That was kind of exciting.

I NEED HELP!

Usually I do a Show & Tell on Fridays but today my mind just isn't tuned into thinking about posting anything. Why? My mind is all cluttered up with trying to make a decision about a new computer. The quandary is do we get another PC or a Mac. If any of you have experience with both of these types, I would love to have your imput.

Reagan Library

After I did yesterday's post, it reminded me of our trip to the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley a couple of years ago. We visited there with a couple of our good friends from California. It was a fantastic place, but the most impressive thing to me was Air Force One that Reagan flew on. I couldn't imagine a large plane like this inside a building. Here are some pictures. Most of the pictures that I took inside the library didn't turn out too well because we couldn't use flash. It was very light in the part where Air Force One was so I was able to take good pictures there.

Reception for Nancy Reagan

I was cleaning out the drawers in my dresser a couple of days ago and ran across an invitation that I received way back in 1966 when Ronald Reagan was running for governor of California. I went to that reception and I still remember Nancy and how she looked then. I thought it might be of interest to tell you what was on that invitation so here it is.

Can you imagine that? $1.00 donation? Now it would probably be $1000.00 donation (and I wouldn't be going) or at least $100.00. I was always a Reagan fan. We got to hear him speak at a formal dinner in Century City in 1969. This was a dinner for Pepperdine University where my Hubby got his Master's Degree and both of our children graduated from. I have a lot of pictures I've taken at Pepperdine through the years. I'll have to post some of them in the future.

Shopping

We hadn't been to the Scottsdale Fashion Square mall in a long time because it requires so much walking, and my knee has been bothering me for so long, but yesterday we decided we would go. I took this picture on the inside and a couple of pictures inside the Anthropology store. I enjoy looking around in that store. They always have a lot of sale stuff.

We were delighted that this new Grand Lux Cafe had opened since we were there last. We had eaten at one in Las Vegas and really liked it so we were excited to learn they were building one here.

We got there early as you can see, it was almost empty. There were a lot of people there when we left.

Kat at Justabeachkat says she always takes her camera with her wherever she goes. I think I've learned my lesson now that I didn't have it Sunday to take pictures of those cars. Yesterday I took my camera out of my purse and shot these pictures. The above one is my plate. I had Italian vegetable soup and salad. They also served wonderful French bread with it. It was d-e-e-e-licious.

What did I buy? Just some Clinique moisture surge at Nordstrom's. I knew they were having their gift with purchase deal going. That was one reason we decided to go yesterday. Hubby bought a couple of books on sale at Borders. All in all we had a great time.

Playmates

I've been writing about our trip to Hawaii for so many days that it's hard to get back in the swing of posting other stuff. I decided I'd just go ahead and post these last tap dancing pictures. This dance we did was called Playmates. I thought the dresses were cute. They were blue and white checks. This picture must have been made in about 1945. When you get to be 71 years old, it's kinda fun to look back so many years.

No Old Cars Today

I'm very disappointed. I intended to post pictures of two 1940 Ford coupes today - one of them in terrible condition, and one of them restored. They were at our church parked right outside the worship center for two Sundays but, of course, I didn't have my camera with me. So today, I took my camera, and no old cars in sight. The theme of the current sermon series is The Old Made New. The series is not over, so I'm hoping that maybe the cars will reappear some Sunday. If they do, I'll be ready with my camera. One reason I thought the old cars were so interesting is because my hubby's first car was a 1940 Ford coupe. He bought it when he was in high school.

Then and Now

I think this is going to be my last Hawaii post. I mentioned that we went to Hawaii twenty-one years ago. I thought it might be interesting to contrast how we looked then with how we look now so here are some pictures.


This was when we first arrived the first time. Twenty-one years makes a lot of difference, and my what huge lenses on those glasses.


Here we are with our matching shirts that we bought at Hilo Hattie's. This picture was taken just before we went to a luau. We still have the shirts.

Here we are on the first day we arrived on this trip - older - wiser - and a little heavier.

I hope you have enjoyed these accounts of our trip as much as I have enjoyed sharing them. No, I really don't expect that, but I do appreciate all the lovely comments I have received.
