fPhoto Friday

I just recently discovered fPhoto Friday and thought I'd join in today. Here are recent photos of the pair of quail that were living in our back yard. I'm sad that they and their 12 little ones have moved out into the big world. I loved it when they were in our yard, but realize they couldn't stay there forever. Sigh. I'll have more to say about this in another post in the future, probably on my Charlotte's Weblog blog.

Scott MacIntyre

I am so proud of Scott. He was one of the top eight finalists for American Idol when he got voted off. 

Scott is going to be doing a thank you concert at our church on May 9. Here is the information copied from the Scottsdale Bible Church website:

Scott MacIntyre in Concert

Saturday, May 9, 7 p.m., Worship Center

Scott wants to take this opportunity to thank Scottsdale Bible Church for their support. During the concert he will share his journey and testimony. There is no charge for this concert.

Scott made it to the top 8 of the current season of American Idol. Come listen to Scott’s first performance at Scottsdale Bible since his journey with American Idol began.

VINTAGE THINGIES THURSDAYS

I had not planned to participate in V.T.T. this week but when I saw that vintage quilts was the subject, I couldn't resist posting about this Cathedral Window quilt I made back in the 70s. I don't know if it qualifies for "vintage" or not, but it seems pretty vintage to me. lol.  This was our bedroom in our house we lived in at the time. Gold was the popular color for walls and carpets. This quilt was made all by hand. I found a website that tells how these quilts are made. I thought it was quite interesting. If you're interested, you can click here to find out how it's done. It was a big job. I thought I'd never get it finished.

The picture below is a quilt the church we were at gave to us made by the ladies of the congregation. They knew pink was my favorite color. This was also in the 70s or could have been very early 80s. 

I have posted both of these pictures in the past, but it was quite some time ago.

BOOK REVIEWS

"What?" you say. Charlotte is getting into book reviewing and book giveaways? As many of you know my hubby has been doing this for some time and he has encouraged me to start. He started blogging way before I did and couldn't understand why I didn't want to blog too because he was enjoying it so much. I really wasn't interested until I visited a few women's blogs and then I got interested. This time I decided to take his advice and give it a try. 

So, my first book to review arrived by UPS late yesterday. I have only had a chance to thumb through it and read a few pages. I have to tell you I am very impressed with the book and am eager to get more into it. 

How Not To Look Old - that was something I didn't need to be worried about for a long time, but now when I look in the mirror, I think, "When did it happen?" When we were first married people who came to our front door would ask me if my mother was home. This made me furious. I was well into my 20s.  Anyway, it has been a long time since anybody has asked me that question. LOL

Now, I want you to be aware that in the next few days I will be posting a review on my Charlotte's Weblog blog with instructions on how to win one. 

BLUE MONDAY

My family has been helpful when it comes to Pink Saturday and Blue Monday. The item I'm featuring today was given to me by my daughter. Someone in her office was getting ready to throw it away and she told the lady that her mother (that's me) would like it so that is how I ended up with this cute little blue and white windmill. There is a place to put a votive candle in it.

THE QUAIL FAMILY

I just saw the cutest thing and I just have to share it with you. I looked out in the back yard and saw a mother and father quail along with 8 or 9 tiny baby quail. I grabbed my camera and took a picture through the window with the zoom.  Now you know what? I'm gonna go post this on my Charlotte's Weblog because pictures post larger there. You can't see the babies very well here. They blend in with the rocks. They're about the same size as those rocks in the yard. Go look on the other blog if you haven't already seen them there.

A CHALLENGE FROM MS. DAISY

Jean (Ms. Daisy of The Daisy Chain) tagged me to go to my 6th picture folder on my computer, choose the 6th picture there and do a blog about it. The 6th folder holds pictures from Sedona. I did this challenge some time ago and I have posted this picture before in a post about Sedona, but I think it is an interesting picture and I'm sure not everybody has seen it, so here it is again. I love this work of art. There are many bronze statues in and around Sedona, AZ. We found this one on the outskirts of town as we were driving there. 

This challenge is a fun thing to do, so if you haven't done it before or if you haven't done it lately, I am passing the challenge on to you.

Can you think of anything better than this? The tomb was empty when the disciples went there expecting to find Jesus' body. 

In 1978 we had the privilege of visiting the Holy Land. We were in Jerusalem on a Sunday and Hubby had the honor of offering the communion meditation at the Garden Tomb. Here is the picture I took of him and some other pictures we took there in the Garden.

Inside the tomb. Of course no one knows if this was the tomb where the body of Jesus was laid, but it possibly could be. If not, it would be very similar to the actual one. 

That's me right in the middle of the picture facing the camera. Other members of our tour group are also in the picture. 

LEARNING FRENCH

I was so excited today when I went over to Dixie's French Lique blog to find a link to a la parisienne where the author is a French teacher. If you are interested in the French language, you will want to go visit her blog. She will be teaching a lesson each Friday. In today's lesson for the beginner (that's me) I learned that C'est means "it is", and moi means "me" so that's how I'm signing this post today. C'est moi, Charlotte.

I do know a tiny bit of French because I took a semester of it in high school way back in 1950. In the middle of that school year my folks moved to Oklahoma and the school there did not teach French so I took two years of Latin. Should have taken Spanish. It would have been much more useful. But, I have always loved the French language and so I was thrilled to find out that each Friday I could have a private lesson, on line of course. 

I'm also starting another new venture. Hubby has been reviewing books and having book giveaways on his blog Musings of a Minister for some time now. At his suggestion, I decided to start doing that as well. The first book I will be reviewing is called How Not to Look Old by Charla Krupp.  The book is being mailed to me and I haven't received it yet but I am looking forward to reading it, reviewing it, and giving away five copies. I am planning to do this on my Charlotte's Weblog blog so be looking for it there sometime soon.
