I suspect the reason many people don't post on their blogs as often as they used to is because they spend so much time on Facebook and other sites like it. I have a long list of links to blogs on my sidebar that I had not visited in a long time. Yesterday I decided to click on a few of them. I was not surprised that some were closed completely and almost all of them had not posted anything recently. Most had not posted anything in a year or longer. One said they were taking a little break from blogging and would be back soon. That was posted a year ago.
I am happy to say that there are a lot of bloggers who have started blogging more recently who do post on their blogs and many of these share with us on Spiritual Sundays. And then there are some, like Beverly at How Sweet the Sound, who hosts Pink Saturday, who have been sharing on Spiritual Sundays for five years.
I have four other blogs besides this one. The only one I post on regularly is Spiritual Sundays. I occasionally post one one or two of the other ones. Like other people, I get involved in other things and the first thing you know the blogs are all but forgotten. Does it matter? Not really. I just thought it was an interesting observation.
Thanks for taking the time to let me share these thoughts with you. Blogging is still something I enjoy after doing it for about 6 years.

Just wanted to say hello and I read your post. I have feedly now instead of Google Reader since it closed. I have noticed also it seems a change in blogging.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week!

I am still blogging, however.....seriously thinking this will be my last year. Just don't have anything to show....people want big beautiful magazine like posts and that just isn't me.
ReplyDeleteHi Charlotte,
ReplyDeleteHow interesting that you were doing that inventory. As I am hoping to re-design my site, I started checking out some of the blogs that I said I followed and I discovered the same thing you did. Some are no longer around! I took a break for several months because my job was all consuming but I loved it. Now that I'm retired, I'm back to writing--and I love that!!
Thanks for visiting!
Blessings,
Janis
I too have noticed many changes in our blogging world. I've been blogging on Heart Choices since 2007 and continue to do so. Over the course of these years, I've 'followed' many blogs and gotten to 'know' many bloggers through their words. I love to meet new bloggers all the time but I'm thankful for ones like you Charlotte who have been continuing on with your blog.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and love,
Debbie
PS. I agree with what you wrote about Facebook though.
I haven't been here as much as I used to be, but I haven't quit altogether. In fact, I just posted an update the other day. Will try to do better but not making any promises ;-)
ReplyDeleteCharlotte---this is the only place I can find to send a message--having so many tech problems---entered two under 'Hidden' in Spiritual Sundays--and hope you can delete them. The info in not coming up automatically anymore--. Not working---so sorry.
ReplyDeleteI'm still around sweetie, don't know if you remember me though. I'm having a great holiday event in November if you're interested. Marty, CeeKay, Julie, Sandy, Laura and so many more are expected, so stop by and check it out. There's a button on the top left of my blog to see the event page. Another reason bloggers have slowed down is that summer is vacation time and not too many holidays to celebrate, so it always picks up around the major holidays.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meri
My blog has been lonely a bit this summer. My brain needed a bit of a break. I do love blogging and the friends I've made. Your Spiritual Sundays have been such a blessing to me. Thank you, Charlotte for taking the time to keep it open.
ReplyDeleteStopping by to say hello. I'm still blogging every day xo
ReplyDeleteHi Charlotte! I love your SPiritual SUndays place and sometimes link up there. I have a hard time being consistent with my linking up as I am adjusting to this Homeschooling my only child life these days! But I do blog faithfully, as God leads. It can be hard to keep up with all of the fun things I love about blogging: the reading, hopping etc. But I guess every season has it's time...I actually popped over here from Deb's Heart Choices- her sidebar has this link!
ReplyDeleteHi, I like your site, Laura
DeleteHello Charlotte, it's a pleasure to meet you. I try to do a blog post at least once a week, sometimes more. Time gets away from us and we all have lives to lead. From your newest follower, Linda
