BRULÉ

Are you familiar with Brulé? The first time I saw them perform was at an Arts Festival in Fountain Hills, AZ.  There are several Arts festivals in the Phoenix area and we have been to quite a few. We enjoy looking at all the interesting things that are featured there. I usually come away with a piece of pottery, a piece of jewelry, or something each time we go to one. Of course there is a lot of different foods available too. We usually get Indian fry bread with beans and cheese on it for lunch while we're there.

Anyway, back to Brulé. The first time we saw and heard them we were mesmerized. They always draw a large crowd to listen to their music.

Here are some photos I took at one of their performances a couple of years ago.

The music playing right now is one of theirs.(Note: I just turned it off for the Spiritual Sundays post.) You can click on the music widget on the sidebar to listen to their music. I thought I would include one of their videos in case you would be interested in watching it.

I hope you enjoy Brulé as much as I do. You can find more of their videos on UTube.

SOMETHING SPECIAL

There is something very special going to happen next weekend. Spiritual Sundays, Pink Saturdays, and many bloggers are helping to promote it. You may have already heard about it. You can read about it in the September issue of Guideposts Magazine.

Colette was given a 5 - 15% chance of surviving cancer. That is when Kelee Katillac and her crew stepped in and transformed her dismal abode and helped facilitate a miracle. Read more about it and find out details of the big event that will be taking place August 27th, 28th and 29th. If you have a blog and would like to link up to join this party, you can do that through the Pink Saturday or Spiritual Sundays memes.

Kelee is doing a big GIVEAWAY in honor of this event as well. Everyone who comments at the Katillac Shack will be eligible for the wonderful gifts. They include a new Janome sewing machine, a beautiful floral painting, and subscriptions to Guideposts Magazine. I suggest you go right now to Kelee's blog to find out more information and to qualify to win one of these giveaways. Here is the link: http://www.katillacshack.com/

Be looking forward, as I am, to a video that will be posted next weekend about Colette's miracle. In the meantime, check back at the Katillac Shack during the week for any updates.

From a Hot Tub to a Pool

After I posted the photos of our hot tub in CA a few days ago and mentioned that now we don't have a hot tub but we have a pool, I decided to post a picture of that pool. Do I look young in this picture? It was taken about 5 years after the hot tub picture - about 20 years ago. No, I thought about posting a more recent picture, but decided "no". lol.  Notice the sea gull at the back of the pool? It was also in the hot tub picture. It is still out there by the pool looking a little weather worn by now. Oh, and the blue and white umbrella came with us when we moved as well. It lasted a long time. I just noticed the bird bath and cement bunny. They came with us too. Bet they wonder what happened to that nice cool shady back yard. Actually this back yard is pretty shady now, and it's cool (in the winter time). We planted a small tree in the corner behind the grass. Now it has gotten so large and the palm trees have grown so that the whole pool is in the shade in the mornings (for awhile).

Thanks for humoring me and reading this post. My Spiritual Sundays post is on the Charlotte's Weblog blog this week. If you have not seen it I invite you to go there. http://char72.wordpress.com/

HOT TUB DAYS

Not long before we moved away from California, we had a new redwood deck built in our back yard and bought a hot tub. I was just looking through the photos on my computer and ran across these. I thought it might be fun to reminisce a little about those days. What fun it was to sit in the hot tub especially at night and listen to cassette tapes. I can still hear Barbra Streisand singing "Memory (from Cats)" in my mind. (And now I hear it on my computer.)

Now we have a pool but no hot tub. The hot tub was great. The pool is better. We have been blessed in so many ways.

CHOCOLATE

OK. I admit it. I'm totally addicted to chocolate. Wouldn't a chocolate keyboard like this one be nice?

As I said, I love chocolate so when my daughter gave me her Chocolate cell phone, after she had gotten a new one, I was thrilled. No, the phone isn't chocolate color. It is black, but just the name was enough to convince me I wanted to switch my old cell phone for this "chocolate" one. I don't actually use a cell phone very much so I just kind of stored it away in my purse waiting for a time to use it. When I took it out a couple of days ago it was totally dead. I charged it up, but it still wouldn't even try to come on. So, yesterday I took it down to a Verizon store to find out what the problem was. When the guy looked at it, he said, "Oh, those chocolate phones have all kinds of problems." Of course he wanted to sell me a new phone, but I had taken my old phone with me in case this one couldn't be fixed, so I just had him switch my number back to the old phone. I'm sure he was terribly disappointed because he probably thought I would buy a new one and sign a new contract for sure. I fooled him.
So why am I even writing this post? It's because it shows how one can be perfectly happy with what they have until they think they're going to get something better. I was perfectly happy with the phone I had until the chocolate one came along. I'm just wondering if any of you have a LG Chocolate phone and if you have had any problems with it. My daughter said she didn't have any problem with this one at all. Maybe it just didn't like me so it died. I'm still wondering if I got a new battery for it if it would work. Think I'll check into it further. I really like that chocolate phone. Here's a photo.

Post Script:  Took the phone to Best Buy. Turns out it didn't even need a battery. I just wasn't trying to turn it on right. Wouldn't you think I would have found that out at the Verizon store? Wouldn't you think I would have had sense enough to do it right after reading the instructions several times. Oh well, live and learn my Mama always said. LOL
