9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. 10 They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?” 11 Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters,[e] were killed just as they had been. When I read this scripture years ago, I thought "Yes, two thousand years ago many Christians were losing their lives for their faith." Then I thought that this doesn't seem that relevant today because this is not happening. Now when I hear of Christians being tortured and murdered in many lands around the world, I see that it is very very relevant. I have no doubt that we are living in the last days. I wonder, "how long." Yes, this is very relevant in the 21st century. I hope it doesn't come to this in America, but it would not surprise me the way things are going right now. The truth is we should be ready because the Bible says no one knows the hour except the Father. But there will be signs. So many of those signs have occurred in my lifetime.

Charlotte, I have understood from Bible teachers that this scripture is to happen during the great tribulation which begins after the rapture of the church. Have you heard that?
ReplyDeleteSorry it has taken me so long to respond to this, Cheryl. I know there are at least theories about this. Regardless of which is right, I think what is happening now is leading up to the great tribulation. I see it getting worse and worse. At least it has gotten worse in my lifetime. Thanks for the insight.
DeleteAnd by the way I will miss you on facebook but will keep in touch in other ways. You've been a friend for a long time.
DeleteSometimes the troubles that our world is going through threaten to rock my sense of security. But then, I remember that God has already won the battle! We can trust Him during trying times for our victory is in Him!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Joan
You are so right, Joan. Without this hope the future would look very bleak. I'm so glad we have a bright future to look forward to. As one of the old songs says "The cares of the road will seem nothing when we get to the end of the way."
DeleteHi Charlotte, I agree with what you say. Yes, these are times where most of the signs predicted in the Bible is happening at a real fast pace. I think believers need to press on in faith and be strong no matter what situations they face. Sounds easy but very painful. Yet, it is God's promise that makes us look beyond that pain. As you have said the signs are becoming more evident.
