This is an old old song that we used to sing a lot in church but haven't sung it for years. I like the newer contemporary Christian songs (although the hand-clapping ones not so much) but there is something to be said for these songs we sang in the "old days." So why did I chose this particular song to share today? I was trying to think of something that would go with March since March is right around the corner. I know it is kind of "hokey" but that was how I chose this song. I do like the song. I like the concept of Marching to Zion.

ReplyDeleteI do love so many of the old Christian hymns - along with many of the contemporary new praise songs (even the hand clapping ones - those I rarely clap since I'm ALWAYS off in my claps :) ). And what fun to see all your lovely St Patricks Day decor. Happy March!

ReplyDeleteI remember this song too. I really like the old hymns but like you, some of the newer ones are nice too.
ReplyDeleteSpring is trying very hard to bome to my town. I noticed from my kitchen window this morning that my Violets are blooming up a storm. I need to go take some pictures. I wish a picture could capture the lovely fragrance.
I love the hymns, too. My husband is the worship leader at our church and does a good job of balancing the two. Good March song!

ReplyDeleteI love this old hymn. Our church is having one older hymn early in the service, and then songs I have never heard before. I miss the chorous too.
