Do you have a good self image? For me, my self image has at times been a little "iffy". I think everyone can probably say that. In view of this, I thought I'd share what Joel Osteen says about developing a healthy self-image.
I Corinthians 15:10
"But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain." NKJV
Every person has an image of himself or herself. Psychologists have proven that you will most consistently perform in a manner that is in harmony with the image you have of yourself. If you see yourself as unqualified, unattractive, inferior, or inadequate, you will probably act in accordance with your thoughts. Individuals who view themselves as God sees them are usually happy about who they are. They can honestly say, "Thank You, Father, for creating me the way You did. I'd rather be me than any other person on earth. I know that You have a purpose and a plan for me, and I can't wait to discover it!"
True self-esteem can be based only on what God says about you―not on what you think or feel about yourself. You are who God says you are.

Hi Charlotte!
ReplyDeleteLove Joel Osteen... and the scripture. I think as we age it is important to remember it and not always trust what we see in the mirror!Time can play tricks with us and make us forget who we really are as eternal beings. That scripture is SO on it! So glad there is more to us than our bodies.....
Hugs, Kelee
Needed this!
ReplyDeleteThanks Charlotte! That's just what I needed to hear today! I am learning to see myself as God sees me, though it isn't always easy! Rather than "self-esteem" I'll call this "God-esteem"! His perspective is always the best! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI think throughout our lives we are constantly growing and evolving in the person God wants us to be. Some days it's easier to see myself as God does. Other days I struggle. That's when I pull out the verse reminding me I am made in God's image. It's hard to argue with that. If the verse is true then we all are pretty special!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, Charlotte. I see this as "God-esteem" -- so much better than depending on how I see myself!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I could be so hard with myself: constantly examining my heart, aching to be pleasing in God's sight, striving and doing my best to earn His favor and other people's. In the end, I know I'm one who is loved by God, despite my mistakes.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed weekend,
Rina
Hi Charlotte,
ReplyDeleteI think God-esteem is so important, in fact, I just wrote about it in my new book...It is so important to recognize that to the Lord, we are all precious.

Oh and I love your header!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the good reminder--
ReplyDeleteThis was a great post, Charlotte. I have struggled with my self-esteem for most of my life. But oddly, the older I get, the more comfortable I am "in my skin." I think I have come to realize that God has created me, just the way I am, for HIS own purposes. And so, I eagerly look for ways to serve Him, just the way I am.
ReplyDeleteHE knit me together - I'm not as anxious to comment on His judgment as I once was!!
GOD BLESS!
(P.S. I think you're just beautiful, by the way!)
Hi Charlotte,
ReplyDeleteGreat post.
Oh, the bottomless pit of self esteem. What I mean by this is that for so many years my self esteem needed to be constantly fed by people, and I had no idea who I was, outside of what others thought of me. At this time in my life I did believe in God, but I didn't really understand what it meant to surrender my life to Him, and know Him as my Lord and Savior.
The tricky thing about self esteem is that, at many times in my life it was what had an effect on the choices I made, even after I surrendered my life to Christ. I did not understand about seeking the guidance from His Holy Sprit, and seeking God's will. (Psalm 143:10).
Charlotte, I like how you stated;
"..."Thank You, Father, for creating me the way You did..."
I'm so thankful for this, because I can now reflect on the past and know that the things I thought would boost myself esteem in the past, were actually things that would of lead me along a path of complete destruction.
God bless you, and thank you for joining me on my blog journey.

"Thank You, Father, for creating me the way You did"...that says it all, doesn't it Charlotte. Thank you for the reminder. It made my day.
