You have probably heard the controversy over the Tim Tibow Super Bowl ad. From what I've heard about it, I think it is terrific and may even watch the game just to see it. LOL

Betty Robison has authored a neat little devotional book called Women at the Well. One of the entries in the book was made by a woman by the name of Elizabeth Mittelstaedt. She and her husband, Ditmar (interesting name), live near Frankfurt, Germany. Here is the story she tells. It made me think about the Tim Tibow ad.

The other day I chatted with a woman who tends to leave her feelings unspoken and finds it difficult to say, "I love you." As we talked, I remembered a story she told me years ago about a young pregnant woman during the final stages of World War II. At the time, diphtheria was rampant in battered Europe, and like many others, this woman had succumbed to the disease. There was no medicine available, and having this child could cost her her life.

Should I have an abortion? she asked herself repeatedly as she stared out the window of a streetcar and shivered in the crisp air that spoke of a harsh winter to come. Despite the fact that the doctor's suggestion to abort seemed the wisest course of action, a sense of foreboding gripped her heart. Do not kill, a voice seemed to say.

The young woman looked around quickly. Where did that come from? she wondered. Was it God? She dismissed the thought rapidly. How could it be? I don't even know him, she told herself and continued her internal argument. What chances does this child have to survive anyway? Does anyone care about one more baby?


But the warning not to kill echoed in her thoughts, and the young woman changed her mind and went home without having an abortion. I'm glad—because that woman was my mother, and I was that unborn child.

Many years later, after my mother had  become a Christian and told me her story, she added: "Remember, God watched over you even before you were born. God really loves you."

I've stored those words in my heart. I am special. God did care for me. Yes, he knew me even before I was born, as Psalm 139:16 says.

Isn't it amazing to think that God knew us before we were even born? God knew that dear lady. God knew Tim Tibow and He knew each one of us. How could we not love Him and want to please Him?

On a personal note, you have probably heard that my skin cancer surgery has been moved up to February 1. That's this Monday. I'll be glad to get it done and knowing so many have prayed and are praying for me is very comforting. Thank you so much.
